What Does LUPS Support Mean?

The Coalition cannot endorse candidates due to its mix of non-partisan and partisan member groups. However, we recognize that community members will look to us for guidance on candidates who best champion public education.

While the Coalition does not formally endorse candidates, we educate voters about pro-public education candidates who align with our mission and values and connect volunteers with their campaigns.

Support may include encouraging volunteers to participate in campaign activities, posting links to candidate websites, publicizing candidate forums and other events through LUPS’s website and social media, and contributing volunteers’ skills to campaign management, such as communications planning, media management, and strategy-building. 

Lift Up Public Schools (LUPS) supports School Board candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to public advocacy for School Districts and Schools that value:

• A supportive student-centered learning environment that promotes a sense
  of belonging
• Respect for student and teacher privacy rights
• An accurate, anti-biased, and evidenced-based curriculum
• Vigorous defense  of Title IX protections
• Access for all students and staff to safe, healthy and modernized school buildings and critical infrastructure, including technology
• Public funding for publicly governed schools

We support candidates who stand for the core values that drive our mission: equity, inclusivity, transparency, and a commitment to quality education for every student. When selecting school board candidates to support, we look for leaders who prioritize students' needs, uphold fairness, and are dedicated to building strong, thriving public schools.
